"Chettinad Kozhi Kuzhambu with Coconut" is the favorite dish from South India , with its added flavor of curry leaves in it , we get the taste alike of country style.You will love its consistency and flavor, unusual from regular chicken masala and addition of coconut gives added flavor to this dish unlike regular chettinad kozhi kuzhambu dish which is prepared without coconut.

Best side dish for Idly,Plain white rice, Utthappam(Thicken Dosai) .



Chettinad Kozhikuzhambu with Coconut

Recipe 

Ingredients

 1.   Chicken (or)  Mutton :1/2  Kg

 2.   Big Onion-1/4  kg

 3.   Tomato- 3 nos.

 4.   Chillipowder- 1 tbl spoon

 5.   Coriander Powder-2 tbl  spoon

 6.   Turmeric powder- 1/4 t.spoon

 7.   Cinnamon- 1 inch

 8.   Saunf- 3/4  t.spoon

 9.   Cloves- 2nos.

10.     Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbl spoon

11.     Coconut - 1/2 cup.

12.     Cashew nuts – 6 nos.

13.     Pottu kadalai(Roasted gram)- 1 tbl spoon

14.     Kasa kasa (poppy seeds)– 1/2 t.spoon

15.     Curry leaves - 2 to 3 stems

16.     Oil  and  ghee – 1 to 2 tbl spoon

17.     Salt- to taste

   Method

1.         Put oil , cinnamon,cloves,saunf,curry leaves,onion in open cooker and cook(vanakuvathu) till raw smell goes off.

2.         Add ginger garlic paste cook till aroma.

3.         Add chicken/mutton and cook till masala mixes and gets an aroma.

4.        Add tomato and cook for sometime and then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and put salt to taste and wait till oil gets separated in the mixture.

5.         Close cooker and allow for 10 mins to cook.

6.         Keep ready with coconut+kasakasa+cashew+roastedgram  paste (smooth texture).

7.         Add the coconut mixture into the cooked chicken masala and finally put 2-3 strips of curry leaves and allow cooking for 5 mins and garnish with coriander leaves and serve it!
