"Arachuvittah Sambar" is one special traditional type of  sambar dish of South India, famous for its exclusive tase and flavor than the regular type of sambar dish prepared , small onions and tomatoes plays the main part in this dish.Its flavor will be really mouth watering and its consistency and texture gives a awesome look and feel for the dish itself.

Best side dish for Dosai, Idly , Idiyappam  and plain white rice along with appalam.

Arachuvittah Sambar

Recipe

Ingredients

1. Yellow spilt peas(Thoor dal) - 100 gms

2. Small Onions - 200 gms

3. Green chilly - 2 nos.

4. Red chilly - 4 nos.

5. Coriander powder - 25 gms or to your taste.


6. Bengal  gram - 1 teaspoon

7. Raw rice - 1/2 teaspoon

8. Fenugreek  seeds - 1/2 teaspoon.

9. Asafoetida - 2 pinches or to your taste.

10. Coconut tooth + small onions - 5(1 inch sized) + 4 nos

11. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon

12. Tamarind water - 1 small lemon sized or to your taste.

13. Mustard seeds , Black gram - 1/4 teaspoon

14. Curry leaves - 6 nos.

15. Oil and Salt - Your required quantity.

Method

1. Make a 3/4 th boil of yellow split peas , turmeric powder, 2umbler of water along with 1/2 teaspoon oil and keep it separately.

2. (Arachuvitta process)- In a pan with some oil add red chilly , coriander powder, raw rice, bengal gram, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida,   coconut along with small onions and nicely fry them in medium flame and them grind all in mixie and keep it .

3. In a pan saute(thalipathul) mustard seeds, black gram , curry leaves along with that 200 gms small onions , tomato and green chilly and nicely cook (vathakuthal).

4. Now add that contents from mixie to mixture mentioned in 3 rd point.

5. Add required amount of water and salt and again cook nicely and allow it to boil up for 5mins and add tamarind water.

6. Now add the boiled yellow split peas contens mentioned in point no.1 to the mixture of 5 th point.

7. Finally cook for sometime and if required add chilly powder to your taste during 6 th point process.

8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it.

Try it and you will really get your taste buds shoot up.
