"Tomato Kuzhambu" is a classic dish of South India its not spicy or very dull type of dish rather it will be very tastier and has its own kind of flavor and spice , this dish has a consistency that the taste remains in our tongue even after finishing our eating.
Best side dish with Idly , Dosai(Thick), plain white rice along with appalam.

Recipe
Ingredients
1. Big tomato - 5 nos.
2. Big onions or small onions as per your wish - 1 big no or 10-12 small nos.
3. Chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
4. Coriander powder - 1 tbl.spoon
5. Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 teaspoon
6. Coconut scraps - 1/4 cap.
7. Cinnamon - 1 inch sized 1 no.
8. Cloves - 2 nos.
9. Saunf - 1/4 teaspoon
10. Poppy seeds (Kasa kasa) - 1/4 teaspoon
11. Roasted gram - 1 teaspoon.
12. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
13. Salt & Oil - Req. Qty
14. Curry leaves - 5-6 nos.
15. Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
16. Black gram - 1/4 teaspoon
Method
1.Dry fry coconut scraps in a pan without oil for 2-3 mins in medium flame and then add the fried coconut scraps with chilly powder,coriander powder,ginger garlic paste,salt, turmeric powder curry leaves, cinnamon,cloves,saunf, poppy seeds and roasted gram and grind all of them in a mixer grinder and keep it separately.
2. In a pan put some oil and fry chopped onions and tomatoes till raw smell goes off(Vathakuvathu in tamil) and onions become golden brown color and then grind them in a mixer grinder to a semi smooth consistency and keep it separately.
4. Now in a frying pan add some oil and fry mustard seeds,black gram and curry leaves and add the grinded mix of coconut contents(mentioned in point no.1) and grinded tomato - onion mix(mentioned in point no.2) and cook for 5 mins till it gets boiled up to bubbles(in Tamil "Kothi varum varai") and then serve it.
